  • Festival Information
    • The MIAMI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (MIFF) brings the best of world cinema to South Florida, adding to an already rich film culture. MIFF uses the unique geographical and cultural position of Miami to be a premiere venue for the exhibition of international and U.S. films, with a special focus on Ibero-American cinema.   • The Winning Director
    • Born and raised in Moscow, Kirill Mikhanovsky migrated with his family to the United States in his late teens. After his first short, Terra was invited to numerous festivals, he wrote and directed three other shorts and worked on a number of others made at the New York University (NYU) Graduate Film Program. His 2003 short documentary film "Inhale, Exhale" received the Audience Award at the annual NYU Showcase at the Directors' Guild of America. He completed the short auditions just before beginning work on his first feature, "Sonhos de Peixe."
  • The Winning Film
    • In "Sonhos de Peixe" (Dreaming of Fish), Jusce (José Maria Alves), a 17-year lobster fisherman from rural Brazil, falls deeply in love with a local girl named Ana (Rubia Rafaelle). But their relationship is threatened when Ana, who dreams of moving to the big city and living the kind of life she sees portrayed in her favorite TV soap operas, begins to see another boy, Rogério (Phellipe Haagensen), as her way out of their small town.
